Our People: Hélène Ravlich's Daily Rituals
In our busy lives, where women juggle many roles, daily rituals help keep us grounded and refreshed. Learning from others is just as important— embracing their wisdom can lead to growth and positive change. By incorporating these lessons into our routines, we can live a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Meet Hélène, a writer, copywriter, beauty editor, wife and mama to a beautiful teenage boy and small, elderly dog. A passionate travel enthusiast and two-time breast cancer survivor, Hélène shares her love for beauty every day on her blog.
Morning Ritual: What's the first thing you do in the morning to set a positive tone for the day?
Daily Inspiration: Could you share a daily practice or routine that keeps you inspired and motivated?
For me, movement really is medicine – as cliché and overused as that phrase has come to be. Whether it’s weight training, Pilates, spin or yoga, it turns off my monkey mind and makes me feel strong and like I’m doing something positive just for me. Years ago, during my first cancer diagnosis I trained in Transcendental Meditation, and I try and do some form of meditation daily – even if it’s just for ten minutes using an app. But again, if I don’t manage to carve out the time I don’t beat myself up about it. I’ll get back to it the next day.
Evening Ritual: How do you unwind and practice self care in the evening after a busy day?
Like my little morning practice, here simplicity is key. It’s usually skincare-related (funny that!) and often centred around a little facial massage or at very least, mindfully layering my skincare as opposed to just slapping it on. I also have to read my current book before sleep, it’s a non-negotiable.
Favourite Product: Is there a specific product of ours that you love?
The Courage body oil – patchouli done well is just the most beautiful addition to any scent.
Words of Wisdom/Words to live by: What's a piece of advice or words of wisdom that you might like to share in relation to self care or finding time for yourself?
That’s a tough one – no pressure! After a few hardships in my life I actively spend time reminding myself of the good around me, and that could be by noting a few things down in my gratitude app, booking a yin yoga class or just looking at photos of myself over the years and recognising how far I’ve come. “You are the sky. Everything else—it’s just the weather” is one of my favourite Pema Chödrön quotes, and a nice reminder to go in when it feels like things are a little off balance – or even full blown out of your control. Stop and take a second to look around you – I guarantee even in the darkest times there will be even the smallest sliver of light. You just need to take a few moments to find it.
